Deep Cleaning

If it has been a while since your last professional teeth cleaning you may need a deep cleaning (also referred to as a scaling and root planing). A deep cleaning is the treatment used when you are diagnosed with periodontal disease.  Because a deep cleaning visit is more involved, it can be more expensive and usually takes about 2-4 visits. So that you will be comfortable at your visit, the hygienist can administer local anesthetic or a topical gel  when she  cleans beneath your gums.  There are many instances where we are able to use a laser to help evaporate bacteria and sterlize gum pockets.  The purpose of a deep cleaning is to help restore the health to your teeth and gums, so that when you return to our office for future visits you can continue to have regular cleanings and check- ups.

After a dental cleaning, most of our patients prefer to have a teeth whitening done.
