Covid- 19 Protocols when Visiting the Office
At Manhattan Dental Studio, we believe it is our role and responsibility during this time to prioritize the health of our patients and our team. We’ve made some changes around the office to ensure your safety and ours, while getting the dental care you need.
These changes include:
- Full face shields and masks for the treating staff
- Medify air filtration systems in each room
- Window barriers at the front desk
- A pre-screening questionnaire intake form
- Temperature and oxygen levels taken on every single patient
- Patients are required to wear a mask upon entering/exiting the building and office
- Appropriate appointment spacing so that social distancing is maintained
We consistently take every available precaution when it comes to sterilization and infection control. Here are just some important steps we take on a regular basis:
Protective clothing – Our clinical team all wear gloves and masks that cover both the nose and mouth, and eyewear during every appointment to help prevent the spread of germs. Gloves and masks are changed between appointments and never reused. We also ask our patients to wear protective eyewear. Providers wear special medical clothing that isn’t worn outside to keep outside bacteria and inside bacteria separate.
Hand hygiene – Providers thoroughly wash and sanitize their hands between every appointment. We have hand sanitizer available for patients as well.
Protective Barriers – We use “barrier tape” over objects we touch frequently but cannot sterilize. You might see us apply this to things like light switches, chair buttons, and computer equipment.
Sterilization – All of our instruments and hand pieces are put in a high-pressure autoclave after every use to sterilize them. We wrap and seal instruments in a package with an indicator that changes color during the sterilization process. This helps us identify instrument packages that have been sterilized, so there is no chance of contamination.
CaviWipes – If something like a countertop or a chair seat cannot be covered in a barrier, sterilized in an autoclave, or disposed of, then we use a clinical disinfectant to clean it between every appointment. We are regularly disinfecting all high-touch areas, including doorknobs, countertops and even our pens. We use CaviWipes, the same disinfectant used in operating and emergency rooms.
There are also additional measures that we as a community can take to help protect ourselves and our loved ones. If you have a fever over 100.4 degrees with a cough and/or shortness of breath, please postpone any visit until you’ve been feeling better for at least two weeks.
If you are healthy, there’s no need to cancel your regularly scheduled dental appointment.
We wholeheartedly care about the well being of our patients and team, and that has always been the case. We will continue to check with the CDC daily for updates and implement any additional protocols they suggest.
